From John and Amy Banta: Praises and Prayers Are Bountiful In GSM Guatemala Soccer Programs We give praise and ask for your prayers....... PRAISES We praise God for so much interest in the programs of GSM. We praise God for our coaches who are enthusiastic about growth and the increased work for them. We are thankful, too, for continued health and safety. The change of homes always takes a bit of adjustment...we are thankful for a comfortable, safe place to stay for the next few months. We are thankful for the pastor’s conference and the new connections with other churches to partner with. Thank the Lord for our continued partnership with UnCharter Water from the USA as they create an interest in reach churches and use soccer ministry to bring youth to Christ. We are thankful for the open doors at not only two schools, but of two others to do camps at during the school break here in October through December. We praise God for a good staff here of coaches that are growing in their skills and leadership abilities. Praise the Lord for over 290 children who camp to Christ in GSM Soccer Camp this past Oct-Nov of 2008. Praise the Lord for the great effort of so many volunteers and out coaching staff that gave up so much for children to be reached for the Lord. PRAYERS NEEDED Pray that our partnership with and the training of Compassion International Staff in the new 7 outreach soccer academy programs. We ask you to join us in asking God for His will in the following: That we would continue to have good working relationships with all GSM staff members. For strength, energy, and safety for all of us. For more dedicated Christian men and women to coach and disciple children and teens. We are in need of more coaching staff...preferably from the communities where the children live and would go to church. For continued growth of our financial support base and faithfulness of those who have committed to support the ministry. Please pray that God would put an end to the violence in the neighborhoods we work in. That His protection would continue to be with the children and staff that come to the academy programs on neighborhood fields. That children and adults hearts would be changed forever through the power of Jesus. Pray that God would continue to provide for GSM Guatemala in various ways: God’s clear guidance, additional financial means for GSM, a smooth transition into our new roles within the ministry here, and more long term workers who can work alongside those here. Please pray that God would allow the Banta family a second car. The need for a second continues to grow each month. Please pray for our monthly support to continue to supply fully for our family and ministry needs. We thank you for your faithful partnership in prayer. Prayer Requests for our Guatemala GSM Team Staff. Our Volunteer Soccer Coaches: • Pray God will provide the funds we need to hire on 3 fulltime coaches that we have been training. Each coach would cost around $250/month. Coaches would be involved in the expansion of our outreach community program where we operate GSM Training Academies and will be starting league play once we have enough kids to form age group teams. Our Soccer Programs: • Pray God will draw the kids in to hear His word and grow into a personal relationship for Jesus Christ. Coaches Devotionals and Spiritual: • Pray for John and Amy as they disciples and spiritually lead the guys that help us coach in our various soccer programs and pray for Amy as her English Classes go well for our Guatemalan coaching staff.
