Crusaders Mission Trip to Guatemala
Crusaders prepare for mission trip to Guatemala to support GSM Internation work Thursday, April 12, 2007 NAMPA - Seven Members of the Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team will be taking a two week mission trip to Guatemala in May.

NNU head coach Jamie Lindvall, who grew up in Honduras and Guatemala as a missionary kid, is looking forward to returning to the country from May 7th to 21st.

The team will be spending the first week in Guatemala City, working with Global Soccer Ministries (GSM). GSM uses soccer as a tool for sharing the Gospel with the local youth of Guatemala in one of the poorer areas of the city. GSM owns a dirt field where they host soccer leauges for both adults and children.

The NNU soccer team will be working to build bleachers into the side of a hill next to the field as well as hosting soccer clinics for the youth teams in the afternoons. The second week will be spent at Lake Atilan (about three hours from Guatemala City). The team will be working with CAM International on the contruction of a youth camp at the lake.

Coaches Jamie and Rachel Lindvall are excited to be able to provide this cross-cultural opportunity for the members of their team. They look forward to helping them see how the church and mission organizations function in a third world country as well as giving the opportunity to serve those who are financially less fortunate than we are in the U.S.
