God Provides GSM Guatemala With a Wonderful TruckGod Provides GSM Guatemala With a Wonderful Truck
From John and Amy Banta/Director of Soccer and Development (John) and GSM Operations Manager (Amy) in Guatemala

Great News!

It is with excitement at what God does within His body that we write to tell you all that GSM Guatemala has been given a pickup truck! Praise God! We had a wonderful surprise yesterday when the 2000 Ford Ranger was dropped off at our front door! As you know, we have been praying for God to provide a second vehicle for use in the ministry for a long time. Our Honda Accord just doesn't have much hauling capacity - however, that hasn't stopped us from treating it like a pick up truck to get things done! Ha! Ha! With this generous gift, we will be able to do camps this year, transport coaches and equipment to and from academies, as well as hauling supplies for community projects that show God's love in a tangible way.

Let us take a minute to explain how this vehicle came to us.

In preparation for the camp season, we began looking at what we would do for a second car to get coaches and equipment to the fields that stretch from the farthest east corner of Guatemala City to the farthest west side. We had thought a car was available for rent at a pretty reasonable rate for the 6 weeks of camp. However, a few weeks back we learned that the car would not be available. So, we waited and prayed. At a Bible study last week I learned that friends of ours, who are heads of a Guatemalan, founded and run children's ministry here in zone 18, had been blessed in several ways. So much that they had an extra truck. Well, this Wednesday John and I decided to send them an email asking to rent the extra truck for the camps.... thinking that the rental fee would help them make some repairs on the truck that they anticipated it needing, as well as fulfilling our need for wheels. Thursday, yesterday, they arrived at our door. We didn't think it odd, since we figured he was here to ask some questions about the use of the truck that we had requested. Over the next few minutes he explained that Hope for Guatemala, this ministry that feeds 180 kids each day, wanted to donate the truck to GSM Guatemala! We were just blown away! They went on to explain that it had been on Jose's heart some weeks before to donate it to us, but our newsletter said that we needed a van. They didn't want to give us something that didn't suit our needs. That all changed when we wrote to ask if we could rent the truck. They knew that it indeed would serve our purposes. They were sure that it was God's desire for GSM to have it! Between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon, Jose spoke with the board of Hope for Guatemala and had full approval to donate the vehicle to GSM Guatemala. Isn't that just incredible! I don't know about you, but I continue to be amazed at how God uses His people to meet the needs of His family. We give all the glory to God... for providing a way to make camps happen, for a way to get our coaches and equipment around town, and for the obedience of His children.

Praise Him with us!
