Soccer Internships/Short Term Mission Available In Guatemala in 2008
We need your help!
University Player Soccer Internships/Short Term Mission are available starting 2009 for GSM Guatemala.
You might know one or two players/coaches that might be interested in serving in a foreign country while using their soccer abilities. We are accepting about six candidates for our Internship/Short Term Mission work for 2009. Jamaica will be available in 2010.
Guatemala is a Middle America country where soccer (football) is this nation’s national team sport and the passion with youth and adults have for this game is beyond the imagination. Guatemala is wide open for the gospel and using soccer as a tool to change a life is also wide open. If you are a university student you part of our university internship program and receive college academic credit for your degree program.
Candidates must have a soccer playing and coaching experience (not necessary but very helpful). GSM International is looking for soccer players/coaches and students who have a background in playing, coaching and administration with a strong Christian background to assist in GSM Soccer Academy Program in Guatemala City. Some playing opportunities are available. Candidates need to be spirit filled Christians that have a passion to see soccer used as a tool, along with the ability to share the Gospel, to be accepted into an internship.
Candidates must be able to work from 1 to 3 months, a summer or even one year for those wanting a more long term time with us. Candidates must be able to speak Spanish (or have a good enough knowledge of the language), have a soccer playing and some coaching back ground and be able to raise their support for their stay in Guatemala which includes air and transportation, housing, food, insurance and other miscellaneous cost for personal needs.
Candidates will work in our programs with youth and adults that pre-exist. They will be trained and have opportunities to work with our partnership in Child Evangelism, Compassion International and others. We operate activities, such as soccer camps; after school soccer outreach ministries, academy programs in several communities in Guatemala City where players are trained, coach a youth team, play on a men's or women’s team. Interns would also be involved in assisting visiting touring soccer teams and church groups that come from the USA on mission trips.
Candidates need to apply ahead of time to secure a position. For further information please feel free to use our contact link to email GSM International office.
